this tower is easily the most recognizable of all the towers in hogwarts. the headmaster's tower juts out of it, but this tower itself is the one that houses the gigantic staircase used to move floor to floor. you know the one- moving stairs, false steps, thousands of portraits lining the walls? be careful, you don't want to get off on the wrong floor and get lost.

technically called the 'west tower', the owlery is a remote tower separate from the rest of the castle. the owls of both students and staffs stay here, always available for their owners' needs.

in a school as diverse as hogwarts, it should go without saying that some people are going to get injured. those unfortunate souls are sent here, where a nurse will tend their wounds. the hospital wing is one big room with beds lining all sides, and magical curtains that can be drawn around an individual bed if privacy is needed. an office for the head nurse adjoins it near the entrance.

accessible only to those who know the password, the gryffindor commons room and dorms are located in a tall tower, guarded by the infamous portrait of the fat lady. two spiral staircases lead to the male and female dormitories from the commons room.

at the top of a spiral staircase on the fifth floor of the school is a door with no doorknob or keyhole, but instead a bronze knocker of an eagle. in order to get access to the ravenclaw commons room and the dorm rooms that extend up into the tower, one must answer the knocker's riddle correctly.

usually off limits outside of class hours, the astronomy tower is the tallest tower of the castle. this class is held late at night when stars are easiest seen.

also known as the 'north tower' this is where divination classes are held. the tower is accessible through a trapdoor in the roof of a classroom below, and usually locked outside of class hours.
