But for now he was still a teenager at Hogwarts so he would not worry about that, besides, worrying makes people age prematurely and he planned on staying young for quite a while.
He sighed as he sat on his broomstick, hovering about a feet or two from the floor without much trouble. The Gryffindor was currently waiting in the middle of the Quidditch pitch for whom was probably his best friend, Aubrey McNeal. The two have met during their first year and have become pretty much best friends ever since. It was kind of odd how they had agreed to meet at the pitch to start their new year with an inaugural flight since the first five years of school she had been afraid of flying due to an accident during their flight class. He had however taught her how to fly as per her request and now she was almost as good as he was, and that was saying something.
He ran a hand through his hair as he thought about the recent events, like the death of Harry Potter and that mysterious letter, it had pretty much every Auror on edge, it was all just too much, the magical world was not ready for another war, that was a fact. "What's taking her so long..." He wondered, drumming his fingers on the tip of his broom, she was usually on time, maybe all the other students were just making her late. The very thought of her made him smile, he liked pretty much everything about her, like how she smiled, her smell, it was such a tragedy that she didn't like him back, not that he would tell her, no, why ruin their friendship if he could help it?

She had actually hoped to become Head Girl that year, but it seemed that two ravenclaws gained the spot of Head. Oh well, she was still a prefect at the least, and of course she was already performing her duty. She had grabbed her broomstick with plants to meet Nathan out at the Quidditch field but along the way she had caught a couple of third year hufflepuffs throwing dungbombs at the first years. After a quick scolding and sending off to a teacher for detention to be set, she hated doing that part but hey she was a first year once too and wouldn’t want dungbombs thrown at her either.
Now she was late and the young blond was running out towards the Quidditch Pitch with her broom in hand. She sure hoped that Nathan wouldn’t be mad that she was a bit late. She remembered how it wasn’t too long ago she couldn’t even get on a broomstick, now she very much enjoyed flying to where she did it as a hobby. She smiled as she headed onto the field, seeing that Nathan was already hovering on his broomstick. “Hey! Sorry I’m late some third years were tossing dungbombs at first years!” she called out as she ran over to him, a wide smile on her face.
It was their last year and they would be studying quite a bit for NEWTs so any moment they had to do something other than study, she planned on hanging out with her friends. “Can you believe it’s our last year?” she asked with a warm smile as she mounted her broom. To think, by the end of the year she would’ve spent seven school years at Hogwarts, she sure was going to miss it. She would definitely have to come back and visit, that was for sure. She glanced over towards the castle for a moment, as if she was deep in thought before she turned to smile at Nathan again and she kicked off of the ground, hovering lightly near him. “Race you!” she giggles before speeding off to do a couple of laps around the pitch. Even with her head start, she knew that Nathan would easily catch up and surpass her, after all he was the Quidditch star, not her.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] CAUSE I'M ONLY A CRACK IN THIS CASTLE OF GLASS, HARDLY ANYTHING LEFT FOR YOU TO SEE The Words: enough The Outfit: this The Notes Kassy <3 While he waited, Nathan decided to just mess around, whistling as he spun his broomstick in a 360 degree radius, trying to entertain himself while Aubrey arrived. It was not like her to take so long to show up, but then again she was a prefect and as such, she probably had to do some patrolling or something before having some free time for herself. Sometimes he wondered if he'd make a good prefect but then he reminded himself that being one was probably boring as it would leave little time to do what he wanted, so the prospect of being one was kind of unappealing, he didn't really thought teenagers should waste their time with rule-enforcing, if anything they should break as much as they can before they become adults and are forced to follow them.
His thoughts were interrupted by the melodic voice of his best friend, who was sprinting towards him, broom in hand all the while explaining why she was late, yup, prefect stuff. He stopped his spinning and just shrugged off her apologies with a wave of his hand. "Don't worry, it's your duty." He understood her and all, even though he didn't like to wait. "I miss being a third year some times, it was fun, at least we didn't have any dumb OWLs or NEWTs or anything to worry about. I take it you sent them to detention?" He wasn't really a guy who believed in punishments, if it was up to him he'd just give them a scolding and let them go on with their days.
"And yeah, I find it hard to believe that this is our last year at Hogwarts. Soon we will need to find a job and probably start a family, and all the stuff that comes with growing up. It's kind of overwhelming if you ask me." He shook his head, giving her a smile as she mounted her broomstick. He followed her gaze back to the castle, and before he could realize, she was speeding off to the top of the Quidditch pitch. "Oh you little rascal." He shouted, speeding off after her, while she had a head start he was sure that he could catch up. He half-closed his eyes as the sudden burst of speed hit his face with air, ascending high enough to be above her. "You better make the most out of your head start, cause I am going to beat you otherwise!"

Aubrey couldn’t believe how time has flown by and she’s definitely enjoyed it at Hogwarts, probably a lot more than she would at a muggle school. Sure she was a prefect and had to send some kids to detention, but hey she wouldn’t do that to her close friend. “If it would’ve been you I’d have let you off,” she giggled with a light wink as she tried to speed up, her blond hair flowing behind her as she raced on forward. She wished that they didn’t have to do NEWTs she remembered doing her OWLs a couple of years ago and man were they hard and frustrating, at least in the classes she didn’t do so well in. But at least now the classes she was taking were ones that she wanted to take and that she excelled in.
She just hoped that she did well enough on them to become an archeologist and be able to go out to Egypt. The one thing she loved about being a witch, she didn’t have to leave in Egypt to work there, she could just apparate there anytime that she wanted. After all, she did manage to pass her apparition test. It’s too bad that she couldn’t apparate on Hogwarts grounds though.
She glanced back, seeing that Nathan was catching up, well she expected it there was no way she could out fly him, even if she did have one of the better brooms of their time. He was just a much better flyer than she was, but still she was glad that he had helped her overcome her fear of flying. How could she not be glad to have a friend like Nathan, he has always been there for her ever since they met and were sorted into Gryffindor together. Both him and Rose have always been there for her. “Awww… man! No fair you’re better at this!” she giggled once he managed to catch up to her, but still she continued to fly around the stadium for the few warm-up laps that she wanted to do.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] CAUSE I'M ONLY A CRACK IN THIS CASTLE OF GLASS, HARDLY ANYTHING LEFT FOR YOU TO SEE The Words: enough The Outfit: this The Notes Kassy <3 He laughed as she mentioned not sending him to detention if he had been the one caught, of course she wouldn't, she was his friend after all. "I don't think the professors would like to have biased prefects though, who knows, it could cost you your badge to let me go. Besides, its not like you'd catch me, I am just too sneaky." He shrugged, keeping himself from passing her for the moment. "And even if you caught me, I am not the type of guy to endure detention, I'd just slip away or something." It was true, he had never been a fan of any sort of punishment or scolding and given how he was a middle child, his brother had taught him quite some tricks to avoid finding himself in those situations, not to mention, he was just too adorable to be grounded. While he tried to not catch up with her, he realized how good she had gotten at flying after his classes, she was definitely a quick learner although not good enough to beat him of course.
Maybe he could be a Quidditch star one day, once he was no longer an Auror, if he ever became that, it would be sweet, all those people cheering him and just looking up to him, that would be so wicked! "You better go faster or I am going to catch up." He teased her, knowing full well that he would still catch up to her, he was just better and even without a superior broom he could still win. He was glad though, she had finally gotten over her fear of flying and now they could share this awesome hobby of flying with each other.
Nathan couldn't help but to smirk when he listened to her complain about him being better. "You are not ready yet, my young apprentice." He uttered, gripping his broomstick tightly before swinging himself downwards so he was hanging upside down. "So, what's the problem, can't be your old friend Nathan in a friendly race?" He teased her again, poking out his tongue before returning to a much more safe position on his broom, he didn't want to break his neck or something after all.
