it was the afternoon; vic had left work early (with permission of course) and came home to lie down for a while, waking a few hours later, curled up in the blankets of the bed she shared with her fiance. curled up near her feet was teddy's loveable puppy, lupus, keeping a close eye on his master's fiance and their baby.
vic pushed herself up on one hand, glancing at lupus who raised his head to look back at her. "teddy's not home yet, hm boy?" no reply was needed, of course. even when she got home at a normal time most days, teddy often arrived after her. besides, if teddy was home she was pretty sure lupus would be with him and not her. she might love the dog, but he was teddy's dog. still, his presence was certainly comforting as she reached forward to scratch his neck before finally deciding to move, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. she had been too tired coming home to change out of her work outfit, but there was no sense staying into it the rest of the day, so she quickly changed into a comfortable pair of jeans and a loose fitting blue shirt that hid her growing stomach. she hadn't shopped for maternity clothes yet, but it was probably time she call up dominique and arrange a shopping trip... she knew her sister would love preparing for anything to do with the baby.
now in clearly more comfortable clothes, vic made her way to the kitchen, lupus right at her heels. the witch poured herself a glass of juice, giving lupus a treat when he looked up at her with begging eyes. she was going to be a 'wonderful' mother, unable to even say no to a canine. how was she going to discipline her own kid and avoid spoiling him or her? luckily she had a few months yet to prepare... and when the time came there were more pressing concerns than not spoiling the kid for the first few months. she'd been warned by family and by the friends she had who already had families of their own, and to be honest everything terrified her... but she had teddy, right? everything would be fine so long as she did.
taking her juice with her the part-veela moved to the living room, curling up on the couch while lupus decided to lie on the ground at her feet. she grabbed a book off of a nearby end table, trading it for her glass as she relaxed into the text on the pages, waiting for teddy to come home. |

he loved the thought of coming home to vic. knowing that when he opened the door she'd be there to greet him, he'd be able to hold her, kiss her when he wanted, he loved it. it had been hard with them living in separate houses, even after they'd first gotten engaged. they'd both agreed that it had been the best, spent every minute they could together, but kept their separate places for a little while. but that had all changed about a few months ago. him and vic were soon going to hear the patter of little feet running down the halls of their new home, they'd found out vic was pregnant, which had thrilled him, there was nothing he wanted more than a family. the chance to be the dad he knew his father would have been if he'd have lived, to let his kids know every day that they were loved and wanted and nothing would ever change that.
moving down the path toward the house he smiled as he heard his puppy lupus let out a array of happy barking, getting to the door as he heard the skittering of his claws on the wooden floor behind the door and he rolled his eyes slightly. moving to the door he unlocked it, moved to open it and stepped inside, bent down to scoop the puppy into his arms and ruffle the animals ears. "hey pup . . whatcha doing? hey?" he said happily as the pup licked his chin. he couldn't help but love the little dog, in a way he was vic and teddy's first baby, and boy did the pup know it. he was already figuring out he'd be allowed to get away with anything. teddy wasn't worried about him being around the baby when it as born, the pup was already so protective of vic, he knew the dog would be great with a baby around the house.
"vic?" he called out as he made to put the pup down, leaned his hand on the wall in order to keep himself balanced as he kicked off his shoes and made to slip his jacket off, pulling it over the coat rack and moving further into the house. he smiled when he saw her, curled up on the couch. "hey hun" he said as he moved over to her, hoping she didn't get up just because he was home. moving to he couch he crouched down in front of her as he made to press his lips to hers in greeting and he made to rest his hand over the small, but progressively growing bump. "and how are my two favorite people tonight?" he asked as he pulled back from her slowly, his hand staying on her bump as he shifted to sit on the edge of the couch next to her, glancing at the book she was reading as lupus tried to jump up onto the couch next to them.
shaking his head he chuckled slightly and made to look at vic again. he still couldn't believe how lucky he was, to be able to call her his almost wife-to-be. he shifted and stretched, feeling his back crack as he did and he relaxed a little. he'd had a long day at work, not wanting to think about it, but he was a bit sore after one of the chases they'd gone on, he'd been hit with some kind of spell, cleared by the medical guys they had at work, but still he was feeling the effects. shrugging it off he made to stand up, press his lips to vics head gently as he made to make for the kitchen. "hungry? i'll do dinner tonight . . you rest" he said, glancing back at her with nothing but affection in his gaze. he wanted her to rest, to be healthy, there was nothing he wouldn't do to make sure she had everything she needed, especially while she was pregnant. "what do you feel like?" he said with a grin as he disappeared into the kitchen, rubbing his hand down his side and moving to the fridge.
