[/style][/td][td] [atrb=border,0,true] "hey rox!" the usual greeting was called out as the door closed behind lucas, locking the noises of the street and nature outside where it belonged as he moved into the small house he now lived in with his fiance, dropping his coat over a nearby chair (for now, he promised to pick it up and put it away later) and strolling down the hall in search for the beautiful witch. there were still boxes here and there with labels like 'fragile', 'cutlery', 'bedroom', most empty waiting to be taken away and recycled. the couple had moved into their new home just shy of two weeks ago, but with lucas at practice pretty much every day and his stubborn refusal to allow roxy to do absolutely any heavy lifting, unpacking and arranging their things was slow progress. it wasn't like they were in any sort of major hurry, though. sure, the babies were due soon, but they had time afterwards to finish cleaning up around the house, too.
the baby... lucas tried not to think of their future in such plain terms. 'their family' seemed to be much softer wording, much less terrifying because it didn't bring to mind an image of a screaming infant... times three. one child at his age was terrifying enough... the little surprise that god had decided to chuck at them on top of the 'you're a parent!' surprise was sure to make the coming two decades even more difficult. lucas just thanked his lucky stars that he had been able to get a position on the appleby arrows. professional quidditch, even as a new player, had a decent salary, certainly more than he would have been able to achieve with his grades anywhere else. more likely than not had he failed at his tryouts for the team he would be working in a shop in diagon alley, not exactly the ideal place to get income for a soon to be very full family.
the former gryffindor moved through the house, peeking into rooms as he went past to see if he could get a peek of the face he loved so much. "you home, babe?" he called out, ignoring the creak of the floorboards under his feet as he moved. with what they'd been able to afford he couldn't complain about this place. sure it was small, just two bedrooms on the second floor that only took up half the house, and sure it was old and a bit eerie at times, but he'd spent the last seven years of his life living mainly in an old, dusty castle. age in architecture wasn't necessarily a bad thing. SHE COULD BE A JOAN OF ARC roxy yawned as she stood up with a little difficulty, the large protruding bump often over-balanced her one way or the other, and she put a hand to her back, already feeling the ache begin to arise right at the base of her pine. that was the problem with carrying not only one baby, but three - some of the not so incredible parts of the pregnancy were tripled...back pain happened to be one of them, along with her size. she had always been such a petite woman, small in shape and carrying triplets had rather englarged her stomach, uncomfortably so. almost as soon as her bump had begun to show she'd started to grow at an alarming rate, much how sometimes it did make roxy feel rather fat, feeling the shift of the babies within her always cheered her back up. it scared her to no end the idea that she was only a few weeks away from her due date now, fear ate at her heart at the meer thought of giving birth to all three children, but usually the benefits outweighed the fear, as did lucas' incredible support throughout this whole thing.
he'd been brilliant from the word go, and she couldn't help the natural smile lift her lips when she thought of him, absent-mindedly her right hand went to the ring on her finger...their engagement ring. sure, some might have said it was too much too fast, and okay she agreed in a way, it had all been fast...but they loved each other, and her love for lucas was never going to go away, it never had. being pregnant with his children only made it stronger...and now that they lived together, each passing moment she fell asleep in his arms, and woke up to his sweet kisses and hugs made her feel that bit more strongly that he was the one, that this was the start of their happily ever after. she grinned and shook her head at herself for her mushiness - he wasn't even here and she was smiling, he made her so happy.
roxy hummed quietly as she picked up the washing basket, folding the clothes she'd already ironed carefully, ready to go and put away. she was pretty much housebound right now, she hadn't really found a job yet though she'd been looking a little, but between being so close to her due date and then afterward having three children to care for she knew it'd be a while before she could work. so whilst lucas went out to bring in the money, she kept the house in order. it was only a little house, just in their budget enough to furnish it too - with a little help from her parents who'd wanted to aid them - but she adored it. it was cosy and it had character, she didn't want some big posh house, she liked the little two bedroomed thing much better. it was homely. she headed upstairs slowly - fast and roxy didn't fit in one sentence anymore - moving to her and lucas' room to go and put their clean clothes away. with just the two of them they didn't make all that much mess, not compared to what the kids would, but of course lucas was male and he did have a habit of leaving things - dirty things - lying around a bit. roxy didn't mind, it made her smile even when she chastised him a little teasingly.
she heard the door suddenly, glancing at the clock to see he was right on time when he called out - "hey rox!" she grinned and headed out of the room and toward the stairs, hands on her lower back, stomach preceeding her as she moved downstairs to greet him. "hey hun," she called out, a smile already on her face at the thought of seeing him. anyone could see she'd really caught the love bug badly. "you home, babe?" apparently he hadn't heard her call out and she grinned lightly, moving after him she made to wrap her arms around him from behind, smile softening at the feel of familiarity and affection flooding through her at holding him again. "nope, i'm out," she teased gently, stretching up on her tip toes to press her lips to his neck lightly in a welcome home. "how was work?" she asked, genuinely curious. she liked hearing about his day, especially now she was stuck at home most of the day and missed out on things. | [atrb=border,0,true] despite his optimism, lucas would be lying if he tried to claim that he wasn't completely terrified. yes, he was in love. yes, he was going to stick by the girl that he was in love with no matter what life decided to throw their way, but this was not what he wanted. children were supposed to be a long way in the future for him. a decade, perhaps, or more. eighteen years old, father of triplets... all of those years of freedom, when he was supposed to enjoy his life with the most minimal of responsibility that he would ever possess for the rest of his life, they were completely gone. in a few weeks he and roxy would be shoved headfirst into a sea of responsibilities, late nights, crying infants, minimal sleep, and pileloads of stress.
the arms wrapping around him, though, helped him relax. an instant smile spread across his lips, his head turning slightly behind him so that he could catch a glimpse of the beautiful young woman out of the corner of his eye. "nope, i'm out," "hm... must have just missed you." he smiled, turning on his heels so that they were facing each other. stress faded away considerably the moment he was looking at her beautiful face, though he wasn't as close to it as he might have liked due to the bump that graced her stomach. he wasn't sure now if it excited or terrified him that that wouldn't be such an issue in a month's time.
"how was work?" his head tilted slightly. "work? work implies effort and things one doesn't exactly want to do. i don't work." his grin widened. "with that being said, my day was awesome. managed to knock the captain off of his broom. only a few feet off the ground, of course, but my aim's getting better and better." he loved being the newbie on the applyby arrows, but proving himself every day to show that he deserved to bea part of the team just as the veterans did. "what about you, babe? how was your day?"
